The birth of Pakiko & FRIENDS

Tools: ProCreate, Adobe Photoshop
Year: 2022

In 2022, the pandemic restrictions were already being lifted and I made it a goal to finally get my work out there and join art markets.

I wanted to create easygoing characters on my artworks. So I explored rubberhose-type of characters since I wanted something a little more nostalgic in my work. It was through the creation of these characters that I realized how much I actually enjoyed the process of character design.

The ‘Take No Sht’ artwork was one of those works that came up pretty quickly and easily. I didn’t realize how significant the flower character would eventually become at the time.

While selling in the art markets, that artwork always stood out for everyone because they related to it the most, especially with women— women who try to be flowers in society but actually have the power to put their foot down & fight back.
