THE PROCESS

Since it’s a collaboration with artist Rymnd Gev, I wanted to keep the shape and feel of his existing work instead of creating something entirely separate.

The idea was to match the bright-eyed person Rymnd painted so a sun character came to mind because not only was it literally bright but it also matched the shape. I wanted to incorporate Kiko as well and thought, what if I attached some sculptures to it as well???

I drew it digitally first to block everything off from the color to the spacing. It was pretty easy painting on the wood first but the challenge came when I had to attach the mushroom on the eye.

Because the eye moved from left to right, I had to make sure the sculpture’s size was enough that it doesn’t hit on either side. It may or may not have fallen at some point but the point is—mission was accomplished! She turned out better than I expected and it was an enjoyable piece to have worked on.

Big kudos to Rymnd for creating such a fun and dynamic piece of work. Inspired me greatly to think out of the box moving forward.
